Jim Gemmell FGA  |
It is with very great regret that we announce the death of Jim Gemmell FGA. Jim was instrumental in the formation of the UKFCG in 1994, he was a founder member of the Guild, held the position of Chairman for nine years and received life membership in recognition of all he did for the Guild. Jim was a true Gentleman, he was kind and generous with his time and knowledge. An engineer by profession he built his own ‘Ptarmigan’ faceting machines over the years and had only recently started working on plans for ‘Ptarmigan’ mark 6. He was the original creator of ‘Square One’ a complete tutorial he devised for the novice faceter. Jim will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him and we send our sincere condolences to his family. A full obituary will be included in the next issue of Faceter’s STONECHAT magazine. |
